Veredito

FATO PARCIAL

“The available data indicates that in Latin America, the largest quantities of cocaine destined for Europe were seized in Guayaquil, Ecuador (23 tonnes), and Santos, Brazil (21 tonnes). If all seizures departing from these ports are taken into consideration, totalling about 61 tonnes shipped from Guayaquil and 31 tonnes from Santos, it becomes clear that these two ports are used intensively by cocaine trafficking criminal networks.”

“Between 2016 and 2022, the Federal Revenue seized 126 tonnes of the drug in containers or hidden in parts of ships that were about to set sail. This year, up to June, it was 6 tonnes. The destination is almost always Europe. According to European authorities, Santos appears to be the world’s second-largest supplier of cocaine to the Old Continent.”

“It is also one of the world’s most important ports for international cocaine trafficking , with over 27 tons of cocaine seized there in 2019 alone. But then something changed. Authorities started seizing less cocaine. By 2025, the total amount of the drug confiscated in Santos had dropped to 7.4 tons. As European ports continued to seize massive shipments of cocaine, they traced the contaminated containers to map out trafficking routes. Fewer and fewer drug shipments were leaving from Santos.”
